If you thought the prices of some of Holden’s HSV range were up there, we’re about to shock you again – how does $300,000 sound? This HSV GTS-R W1 for Sale for $300k is proof that resale prices in the collector market have reached dizzying new heights.
An homage to everything that embodied the performance Commodore, think of the HSV GTS-R W1 as a swansong for the Australian muscle car.
The HSV GTS-R W1 is powered by the same LS9 6.2L Supercharged V8 as the Corvette ZR1. Notwithstanding its hefty kerb weight (1850kg), the GTS-R W1 will reach licence cancelling speeds in just over four-seconds and nudge 300km/h flat out.
Despite more than 1000 prospective buyers putting their name down for their chance to own a piece of Holden history, the HSV GTS-R W1 is limited to just 300 units with an asking price of $170,000.
Boasting the title of the fastest and most powerful car ever built in Australia, the HSV GTS-R W1 has already been earmarked as a future classic- a fact not lost on opportunistic buyers looking to make a quick buck.
Those who missed their opportunity to buy one of the 300 units can still do so- for a price.
According to Grays online in Victoria, chassis number 110 of 300 changed hands in September for $280,000- more than $100,000 up on the HSV’s list price.
A red example of the HSV GTS-R W1- chassis 36 of 300- is set to go under the hammer at Lloyds Auction House on the Gold Coast this Saturday with the auctioneer expecting the W1 will fetch a record breaking $300,000.
