A few Sundays back, I was lucky enough to be one of the many passionate Toyota Fans that converged on Castle Hill Toyota for the 12 Annual Toymods Toyota Fest. Open to all Toyota and Lexus owners who wanted to show off their pride and joy, the show naturally featured some of the rarest, most well preserved and fastest Toyota-bodied vehicles that are currently in Australia. Truly a treat for any Japanese car fan.
I attended Toyotafest with my Toyota Celica Supra (MA61) and was impressed by the wide range of cars. From high quality restorations to motorsports modified machines. You can see some photos below of these amazing vehicles!
These Celica’s are owned by the Toymods Car Club board members. Each has been kept in amazing condition, or restored from the ground up. Truly a labour of love.
This is the VSport Time Attack Toyota 86. This car competed at World Time Attack Challenge over the weekend and set a laptime at Eastern Creek of 1:34:548.
As you can see the engine has been modified extensively and the factory FA20 Subaru motor has been equipped with a turbocharger and a dry sump setup.
This is an original Group C touring car. This car is still equipped with all of all the parts to be a formidable track weapon.
Couldn’t help but include a photo of my own car in this article. This is my 2JZ equipped MA61 Celica Supra with a six speed gearbox conversion. It is parked next to one of the most immaculate, completely original Celica Supra’s in Australia.
Please Toyota, manufacture cars that look like this again. Nothing beats the classic styling of the 70’s.
