6 months of prep, 2 days of testing and 24 hours racing behind us, the first Sparesbox venture into the 24 Hours of Lemons is done. The Alfa made it to the chequered flag, free of breakdowns and free of substantial damage aside from the odd war wound. We couldn’t be prouder.
So how did we do overall? With a total of 519 laps completed, our humble Alfa came in at a respectable 28th overall from a total field of over 50 cars. This was almost 50 laps behind the eventual most laps completed winner, a Nissan pulsar run by Team gitS.
Of course, we never aimed to have the fastest car out there, yet despite this we clocked a solid fastest lap in the mid 1:19’s. At the end of the day, we wanted to tell a story. We wanted to take a car that no one thought would make it, and get it to the end of 24 hours of racing. We did that, and we couldn’t be happier.
Of course, it’s not all about the podium at LeMons. It’s about the spirit of racing and coming together to raise money for a fantastic cause in the Prostate Cancer Foundation. As such, we were thrilled to be presented with the Organiser’s Choice award at the end of proceedings.
