The 2019 calendar has (somehow already) crossed into October, and for supercar racing fans that can mean only one thing: Bathurst is right around the corner. For those not in the know, Australia’s other race that stops the nation will be running on Sunday October 13th, part of a 4-day long mecca of motorsports in NSW’s Central West.

The Great Race is one of a slew of different events taking place between October 10th and 13th, a long weekend of racing that features cars of all shapes and sizes on and off the track. Despite the fanfare and the variety of activities over the weekend, the main event for the large majority of punters has to be the 1000 itself.

This year we’re excited to announce that you’ll be seeing our name flashing around the bends of Mount Panorama alongside the likes of Ryco, NARVA and Monroe (plus many more) on the NAPA Auto Parts racing livery as part of Walkinshaw Andretti United’s efforts to claim the crown for 2019’s pinnacle race.

Unveiled a few days back, the No. 27 Holden is currently in Winton spending a few days getting race-ready with both its pilots, Alexander Rossi and James Hinchcliffe, as well as a massive crew of supporting race team members. Once it’s done there, it’ll be transported to Bathurst ahead of Thursday the 10th of October where it will begin preparations for the race itself.

The No. 27 Commodore now makes a total of three in WAU’s racing team, joining both Courtney/Perkins’ No. 25 and Pye/Luff’s No. 2 in what WAU hopes will be enough to secure the podium finish they’ve become accustomed to in this race over recent years. And we’re not the only ones eager to see the No. 27 making its way around the mountain next weekend.

“I think the livery is a real head-turner, it looks fantastic”, said Walkinshaw Andretti United co-team principal Bruce Stewart.

“We’re all extremely excited to see how both Alexander and James go, first off at Winton, but more importantly, at Mount Panorama. Bring it on!”

For anyone still undecided about getting along to Bathurst for the racing calendar’s event of the year, there are Grandstand, Trackside and Paddock passes still available for purchase. If on the other hand you’d much prefer to not only go for free, but also guarantee a top tier-experience, we’re currently giving away two double-passes for 4-day tickets (including paddock access) for you and a mate.

To enter, just buy any Castrol product on our website to be entered into the draw to win. But get in quick, the competition is closing soon, with winners being drawn October 3rd. Best of luck to all entrants, and try to keep an eye out for the Sparesbox logo glinting in the sun as No. 27 makes its way down Conrod Straight.
