The REDARC Pure Sine Wave Inverter is a device that'll make your caravan or 4WD camping trip much more comfortable and cosy. Forget off grid camping without your electronic essentials - with the REDARC Pure Sine Wave Inverter, you can now bring any appliance that runs on household 240V power and turn the outdoors into your home away from home. Whether you're in the bush or out on the road, the REDARC Pure Sine Wave Inverter is perfect if you prefer bringing your home comforts with you on your journey.
The REDARC Pure Sine Wave Inverters work by turning the direct current (DC) from your vehicle battery into alternating current (AC) which is what household appliances require. When connected to a 12V or 24V car auxiliary battery, the REDARC Inverter converts the power into 240V AC power which can then power your TV, kettle, power tools, CD players and more.
What can I use REDARC Pure Sine Wave Inverters for?
The REDARC Pure Sine Wave Inverter will run any household appliances, including medical equipment, fridges, laptops and phone chargers, coffee machines, heaters and much more. Depending on the wattage of your device, REDARC recommends going with an inverter with a higher wattage rating (e.g. for a 1000W microwave, go for a 1500W or 2000W REDARC Pure Sine Wave Inverter) to avoid overloading and damaging the inverter.
A bigger inverter will also allow you to run more than one appliance. Just be careful to add up the power ratings of your appliances to ensure they do not exceed the inverter rating.
What size inverter do I need?
REDARC recommends:
- 350W: phone and camera chargers, CD players, GPS, computers/laptops, bi-pap machines
- 700W: same as above, plus TVs and fridges
- 1000W: same as above, plus blenders and power tools & equipment
- 1500W: same as above, plus coffee machines and hair dryers
- 2000W: same as above, plus microwaves
- 3000W same as above, plus irons, heaters and kettles
Will my battery have enough power for my inverter?
In general, every 100Ah of battery power will power a 1000W inverter. If you're planning to run a 1000W inverter for more than 15 minutes, however, a bigger battery will be needed to make sure you're not completely depleting the battery. A 300-320Ah battery will comfortably run a 3000W inverter, but remember: the larger your power load, the bigger the charger that's needed to put power back into the battery. Note that large inverters also have a larger standby current draw, so it's important to pick the right inverter for your needs.
Why choose pure sine wave inverters?
Pure sine wave output is designed to power sensitive electronics and protect against overloading and short circuit issues. Modified Sine Wave Inverters do not feature this protection and can cause damage important electronics, such as your laptop, as well as cause overheating. The REDARC Pure Sine Wave Inverter features a fully isolated input and output, quieter operation and a load controlled cooling fan that kicks in to keep your inverter from overheating. It's the best option if you want to ensure your electronics won't be damaged while in use on the road.
Can I leave my inverter on all the time?
No, leaving your inverter on all the time will draw current from your battery, leading to faster power loss. To avoid this problem, turn off your inverter when not in use.
