A Tour of GCG Turbo Australia's Turbocharger Kit
If you’re the kind of driver that’s serious about getting the best possible performance out of your rig, you’ve no doubt considered installing a turbocharger. A turbocharger is one of the most reliable ways to increase the power of your machine, but figuring out exactly what you need to install one can be complex and challenging even for experienced car aficionados.
Thankfully, GCG Turbo Australia’s XTR Turbocharger kits are designed as a full solution for turbocharging your engine, featuring everything you need to install your new piece of machinery. They include everything from the turbocharger itself to flanges, nuts, bolts, and even a turbocharger bag to limit excessive heat. Though the inclusions of each kit will vary based on individual turbochargers and fitment, they all include a Honeywell Garret Turbocharger or Borg Warner Turbocharger and all the necessary fitment accessories such as bolts, nuts, and clamps. Join us as we look inside one of these comprehensive kits.
The Main Event
This is it — the reason you’re here. Every GCG Turbo Australia XTR Turbocharger Kit comes with a Honeywell Garrett or Borg Warner Turbocharger, designed to increase the efficiency and power output of your engine. The turbocharger functions by forcing extra air into the combustion chamber than traditional (naturally aspirated) engines. This additional air brings additional fuel with it. The resultantly higher presence of fuel causes greater combustion, which results in a more powerfully working engine.
GCG Turbo Australia understands that drivers who love to modify their vehicles value the freedom that modification allows them to pursue. Consequently, the wastegate flange that comes with the exhaust manifold of these Honeywell Garrett or Borg Warner turbochargers is not welded on. That means that you have the total freedom to position your external wastegate in your preferred position.
When you push your turbocharged vehicle to its limits, the turbine housing has a habit of heating up, as does the dump pipe. Thankfully, GCG Turbo Australia’s Turbo Kits come with an innovative turbocharger bag to help control this common issue. The heat bag is designed to be fitted to the turbocharger’s exhaust housing.
Once fitted, turbo bags boast a number of benefits that can improve the performance of your turbocharged vehicle, particularly for street/strip turbocharged vehicles. These benefits include reduction of the temperature under the bonnet and protection of all the key parts surrounding the exhaust housing. One added benefit is that they keep the heat inside the turbine housing. This lets your turbocharger move into boost more quickly.
