About Fuel Level Sensors
Fuel level sensors, also known as fuel tank sensors, do the incredibly important job of detecting how much fuel you have left in your vehicle's fuel tank. If your fuel gets too low, the fuel level sensor will feed this information to the gauge on your dashboard, something which is incredibly important for every driver on the road.
How Fuel Level Sensors Work
The fuel level sensor plays one of the most important roles in your entire vehicle, and certainly one that's crucial to us drivers day to day. As it suggests in the name, the fuel level sensor detects the level of fuel the vehicle's fuel tank, relaying that information to the fuel gauge which is displayed on the vehicle's dashboard.
In order to measure the fuel level accurately as your vehicle travels over inclines, declines and uneven terrain, the fuel level sensor actually floats inside your vehicle's fuel tank, connecting to a resistor that's situated on the side of the tank. As the fuel level drops, the contact slides across the resistor, sending an electrical current to the gauge or indicator. As the fuel level drops and the resistance rises, the fuel gauge begins to fall, eventually reaching a point in most vehicles where a light will switch on to tell you it's time for a refill.
Our Range of Fuel Level Sensors
A faulty fuel level sensor can have exactly the effect you think it will - failing to properly alert you when your fuel levels have dropped to dangerously low levels. Keeping you on the road and giving you the most accurate readings possible is our range of outstanding fuel level sensors from the likes of HELLA, Bosch and AFI. All of these sensors are manufactured to OE tolerances and designed to work perfectly in sync with your vehicle's electrical systems.
